Florida Sea Turtles Plate

Florida Sea Turtles Plate

Even when the high temps of Phoenix summer keep me from spending much time taking photos of birds, I still try to keep a camera handy in the car as I run errands. I was glad to have my old Nikon D70 with the 18-70 “kit” lens with me today when I noticed this wonderful license plate on a car in the parking lot.

I started paying attention to license plates sometime in the 1970’s in New Jersey after discovering my first birding vanity plate: it was on a rainy day at Brigantine National Wildlife Refuge near Atlantic City. By keeping an eye open wherever I go and especially where birders congregate I’ve put together a photo collection of over 240 plates.

Since I look for birding related plates I’m more likely to notice other interesting plates as well. Today’s find was this “Helping Save Sea Turtles” from Florida – the first of these I’ve come across here in AZ.

I’ve seen many other interesting nature related plates and have shots of some of them. But I’m sure there are many I’ve missed. So if you are proud of the conservation plate where you live please describe it in a comment here.
