Getting Squirrelly from the heat

Summer is a lousy time to be in Phoenix: no matter how often people say “it’s a dry heat” it still feels hot. It also limits the amount of time I”m out looking for birds and taking photos.

Bird activity is also reduced by the high temps, so even when I do get out I don’t find many subjects. But at least some “wildlife” still puts in an appearance.

This Rock Squirrel was photographed at Boyce Thompson Arboretum on the same morning as the Turkey Vultures in my previous post.

Nikon D200, Nikkor 300/2.8 AF-S with TC20E (2x), Gitzo 1325 tripod with RRS BH-55 b all head and Sidekick, ISO 400, 1/100th second at f/8.
