Its been a day of distractions, so I’ve not had time to shoot or even think much about what to post today. but I do have a few more shots of Fallen Leaves taken at the Gilbert Water Ranch in-between while I was shooting the Little Blue Heron.

These were all taken with my “point-and-shoot” Nikon D70 and 55-200 Nikon lens – the lightweight gear I try to have with me now for “whatever” shots when I’ve got the D200 on th 300/2.8 and 2x.

These were all taken within a very small area: no more than 10 feet by 15 feet on the edge of a pond under a pair of Cottonwood trees. It is interesting to see the variety in he decomposing leaves in terms of color and texture, and the light/shade also plays a big role in how much difference there is in the final images.

So, the only “lesson” in today’s post is to keep an open mind, look around wherever you happen to be, and even modest gear is capable of producing some nice images.
