Northern Mockingbird in palo verde

I’m pressed for time at the moment, so just a quick post with a short message today: keep fresh by looking for opportunities to add variety to your portfolio.

This Northern Mockingbird found an interesting place to hang out at the Water Ranch in Gilbert, AZ. The palo verde branches are incredibly busy and I was tempted to just keep walking back to my car, but I liked the how colorful this setting appeared and how it was very different from any other shot I’d taken of this species. With a little experimenting I was able to find a viewpoint that kept the eye of the bird unobstructed.

D200, 300/2.8 plus 2x converter, ISO 200, 1/350th at f/8, 2/11/09.
