Rabbit in the Rain

Rabbit in the Rain

Photo opportunities can be found many places, and you don’t necessarily need to travel far for interesting images. This shot was taken in our back yard from the open patio door.

The neighborhood rabbits have taken a liking to my wife’s plants and we now see one or two of them in the yard almost every day. This one exhibited very interesting behavior when it backed as far as possible under this agave when a serious rainfall began. It stayed put for the duration and managed some protection from the pounding rain with this marginal cover.

Light levels were dismal and I ended up shooting at 1/15th second, wide open at f/5.6 and at ISO 640 on the D200 aand 300/2.8 lens plus 2x converter.

When the rain started and it got dark I never expected I’d be taking photos. And I never thought I’d get any decent images at this high ISO and this long exposure.
